Cave Girls of the Lost World by Richard Sala Review

Richard Sala’s a cartoonist but his latest, Cave Girls of the Lost World, is NOT a comic! There’s maybe half a dozen pages that are but the rest is alternating full pages of text followed by a pinup.

That’s not why this book sucks - though the format is worth noting as I’m sure most readers picking this up, like me, will be expecting a comic - but because the story is so boring! College girls somehow get stranded in a lost world populated by dinosaurs and neanderthals. They fight to survive. Oh how original and imaginative. And the drawings are trashy pics of topless girls in furry underwear battling dinosaurs. I get that that’s the concept but - why?!

What’s worse is that, in the framing device, Sala seems self-aware enough to know how bad his story is but he still went ahead with getting it published anyway? Ugh. Awful stuff - the worst thing I’ve read by this creator. I wouldn’t recommend it even to Sala fans.
